Meet Pablo Garrido M&A Business Development Executive

At an exciting time of growth for Vesta, we’re thrilled to welcome Pablo Garrido as our new M&A Business Development Executive. Based in Spain, Pablo brings a wealth of experience in scaling businesses, building lasting relationships, and driving impactful growth. In this Q&A, we get to know more about Pablo, his background, and his plans for the future.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background

I bring 15 years of experience in early-stage investments, with a strong focus on scaling European companies. Before joining Vesta, I worked across venture capital, private equity, and corporate finance, helping startups and SMEs access funding and grow sustainably. I also lecture on entrepreneurship and access to finance, mentoring and guiding entrepreneurs on investment strategies and business scaling.

What made you choose Vesta as the next step in your career?

What truly stood out to me was how Vesta’s parent company, CSI, played a key role in creating a permanent capital vehicle in the vertical market software (VMS) industry, where companies are not simply bought and sold, but held indefinitely to build sustainable, long-term businesses. This approach, in contrast to the usual buy-and-flip strategy or the VC spray and pray model, creates real value for founders, employees, and customers.

What are your goals for 2025?

In 2025, I aim to expand Vesta’s reach by fostering strong relationships with VMS founders and investors, sourcing high-potential acquisition opportunities, and driving seamless integrations.

On a personal level, I strive to cultivate a vibrant life beyond work. I’m honing my padel skills to stay active and seeking new travel destinations to broaden and enrich my perspective. Along the way, it’s about growth, learning, and enjoying the journey.

What are your top three books / podcasts?

  1. The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz – a great read on leadership and decision-making in tough situations.
  2. Zero to One by Peter Thiel – a fascinating perspective on innovation and building truly disruptive companies.
  3. Masters of Scale by Reid Hoffman – insightful discussions on business strategy, investing, and market trends.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I stay active by playing football and padel regularly. I love traveling, immersing myself in new cultures, and staying up to date with the latest trends in tech and M&A. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time with family, and being close to nature and the sea.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I think I’d love to learn how to play the piano; it’s a perfect blend of skill and patience. The ability to express emotions through music must be magical, and the learning process seems like a rewarding challenge. Plus, it would be amazing to sit down and play songs, whether for myself or to share with others.
