We’re continuing the expansion of our M&A department in the Latin America region with the recruitment of Luis Alvarez, who joins us as a Business Development Executive. This week, we caught up with Luis to find out a bit more about him and his background.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background

I was born in Valencia, Venezuela, and moved to the small city of Maracay when I was under a year old. There, I graduated as a Marketing Technician and later as a Business Administrator, with a Masters in Marketing at Simón Rodríguez University.

In 2014, I moved to Dublin for 6 months to study English, before moving permanently to Santiago, Chile, in 2015. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to grow and improve myself both professionally and academically. I obtained by MBA degree from the Universidad San Sebastián in 2019 and have since achieved a Diploma in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In February 2023, I decided to further enhance my education by commencing my Masters in Big Data and Business Intelligence through distance learning at the Barcelona Business School in Spain.

Over the years, I have gained solid experience in areas including sales strategy, business development, customer success, e-commerce and marketing, while working for large multi-national companies in industries such as pharmaceuticals, technology and publishing.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Vesta?

Despite only being here for a short time so far, I already know that taking this new role with Vesta is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I’ve received a warm welcome from all of my colleagues and have loved hearing all of the positive comments from everyone since joining.

What are your top three books / podcasts?

I don’t typically listen to podcasts or read many books, however; I do enjoy reading articles about marketing, big data, business, or anything related to my studies.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I consider myself a dog lover and a very familial person, so outside of work I like to enjoy the company of my family and go on walks with my dog. I also enjoy bike riding, going to the movies and getting out to different concerts and festivals.

Who inspires you?

The pillars of my life are my family, which is why every day I am inspired by my father, mother, brothers and older sister.

If you could learn to do absolutely anything, what would it be?

I would like to learn to play the drums and to speak other languages such as German or French.

What is your favourite quote?

“If you walk alone, you will go faster, but if you walk together, you will go further.” – Chinese Proverb
