Meet our new Head of Human Resources, Tess Mayne!

We’re continuing the expansion of our Human Resources department here at Vesta Software Group with the recruitment of Tess Mayne, who joins us as Head of Human Resources. Tess joins with a wealth of experience and will be tasked with running a multi functioning HR department that serves our employees on a global scale.

This week, we spoke to Tess to find out a bit more about her.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background

I was born in Cape Town South Africa and came to the UK with my then boyfriend, now husband, 20 years ago. I completed a BA degree in Communication Science followed by a BA Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology whilst in South Africa. I have been fortunate enough to gain my HR experience across multiple industry sectors including retail, publishing, banking and most recently in power tool manufacturing as Deputy Director HR for Techtronic Industries EMEA where I spent the past 7.5 years building the HR function for the European Headquarters team.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Vesta?

I’m only in my third week but have been so warmly welcomed as part of the Vesta family. What I enjoy about my role is the people aspect; there is nothing more rewarding than seeing people grow and develop and being part of their journey.

What are your favourite books or podcasts?

I love reading (or listening) to crime novels but I am currently reading ‘The Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ written by Luo Guanzhong. My most favourite influential video is a TedTalk by psychologist, Angela Duckworth, titled Grit: The power of passion and perseverance.

What do you like to do outside of work?

My hubby and I love travelling when we can or simply sitting on the sofa with the furkids watching a movie.

I’m involved in animal rescue, networking animals in need via my rescue page on Instagram. I also love baking (not at British Bake Off level!) but have been told my banana bread and cupcakes are very morish.

Who inspires you?

This is probably so cheesy, but it would be my mum. She was a single parent raising two girls on her own. She showed me what grit and determination could achieve. And always to be kind and brave.

If you could learn to do absolutely anything, what would it be?

I would love to learn how to play a musical instrument such as a guitar but I don’t think that I have been blessed with the music gene!
