We’re delighted to introduce one of the newest additions to the Vesta Software Group team: Héctor Martínez, our M&A Business Development Executive for LATAM. With a background that blends business strategy, SaaS, and finance, Héctor brings a dynamic perspective to our growing team in Latin America. We sat down with him to learn more about his story, his goals, and what fuels him – both in and out of work.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background
I’m originally from Nicaragua, where I studied Business Administration and began my professional journey in a small family office. I’m now based in Santiago, Chile, where I started developing my career in the tech industry – specifically in SaaS companies.
My early roles were more back-office focused, managing client portfolios and negotiating contracts and pricing. Over time, I transitioned into front-office positions as a business developer, working across sectors like mining, construction, oil & gas and energy. I helped clients identify data-driven solutions to support their projects.
More recently, I’ve been involved in the financial sector, bringing my previous experience together to help companies understand their business partners better, offering an objective and trustworthy perspective.
What made you choose Vesta as the next step in your career?
I’m truly excited to be part of Vesta because it gives me the chance to combine my past experience with new opportunities for growth, both professionally and personally. What really attracted me was Vesta’s core values – especially the commitment to empowering people and companies to grow sustainably. That resonates deeply with me, because at the end of the day, we’re real people meeting real people, working toward shared success.
I also feel incredibly grateful to be working alongside a fantastic team who believed in me from the beginning. I’m motivated by the long-term vision and impact we’re building together.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
My main focus is to contribute meaningfully by building strong, long-term relationships – both internally with the Vesta team and externally with potential partners across the region.
I also aim to support the implementation and adoption of best practices, while actively driving portfolio expansion through the acquisition of new software companies in Latin America.
What are your top three books or podcasts?
Tough question! But if I had to pick my top three, I’d go with:
- Book: Los Vínculos Que Soy by Verónica López
- Podcasts: 30MPC and No/Nonsense Sales for business insights
- Podcast: Caso 63: Enigma
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I really value quality time with family, friends, and my cats – ideally over a good homemade meal. Even better if we’re outdoors enjoying nature! I love camping, hiking and adventure sports that help me burn off some of my (very high) energy.
On a more personal note, cooking is one of my favourite ways to unwind. I find a lot of joy in preparing meals – especially when I can do it while listening to music. I like to think the music adds a little extra flavour to the final dish. 😉
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
If I could learn anything, I’d probably revisit music. It’s something I explored a while ago, but life got in the way. I’d love to pick it back up again.
I’m also really interested in learning more about different types of handicrafts – like woodworking, pottery and other creative skills. I think it would be a fun and fulfilling way to work with my hands and bring ideas to life.
