This month, we’re getting to know James Caddick, who recently joined Vesta full-time as a Peak Performance Analyst after completing his internship with the team. James brings a mix of curiosity, enthusiasm and analytical thinking to his role — and he’s already making his mark across the group.
Here’s what he had to say when we caught up for a quick Q&A!
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I graduated from university in summer 2023, where I studied Marketing and Management. After finishing my degree, I headed off to Australia to play cricket for a year and did a bit of travelling once the season wrapped up. When I came back to the UK, I started looking for my next step and came across the Peak Performance Internship at Vesta on LinkedIn. The role seemed like a great fit — especially with how it linked to the management side of my degree — and after a few months as an intern, I was lucky enough to join the team full-time as a Peak Performance Analyst.
What’s been your favourite part about joining the Vesta team so far?
Definitely the people. I work with great colleagues who made me feel valued from day one.
A special shoutout to my boss, Sharon — she’s been so welcoming and supportive, and we’ve built a really good working relationship.
I love being involved in the ins and outs of what’s happening across the group, and it’s great to be in an environment where every question is encouraged. There’s so much knowledge sharing, workshops, best practices and general advice that really help you grow. The people you’re with make such a difference, and here, it really feels like everyone wants you to succeed.
Which of your strengths do you think helps you most in this role?
My degree involved a lot of research, which I think gives me a slightly different perspective. I’m naturally analytical and enjoy digging into data and insights to understand the bigger picture. I like to think I bring a bit of a fresh view compared to others — it helps me see things from different angles and add value where I can.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
Right now, I’m focused on being a bit of a sponge and soaking up as much information as I can. I want to keep developing my skills, take on new projects and visit different business units to see how things work firsthand.
I’m also learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, taking on challenges that push me out of my comfort zone. Above all, I just want to keep delivering high-quality work consistently and continue improving every day.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m a keen sportsman — I play football and cricket, and I’m a big Arsenal fan. You’ll often find me travelling up and down to the Emirates for matches. I’m also really into fitness and have recently joined a running club… although I’ll admit it’s mainly for the coffee and croissants afterwards rather than the running itself!
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’d love to learn to play the guitar and sing. It would be amazing to do a little gig in a pub one day. I think events would be so much more fun if I could get involved in the music side (or at least be the karaoke ringleader!).
What is your favourite quote?
“Whoever has the most fun, wins!”
