We’re delighted to welcome Vanesa Atala as our new M&A Business Development Executive. Based in Mexico, Vanesa will play a key role in supporting and expanding our operations across the LATAM region.
With a strong background in economics, corporate finance and startup environments, Vanesa brings valuable experience and a deep understanding of the LATAM market. We caught up with her to learn more about her background, what drew her to Vesta and what she’s looking forward to in the year ahead.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background
I was born and raised in Mexico City and hold a bachelor’s degree in Economics. I’m 33 years old and have around 10 years of professional experience, primarily working in startups and corporate finance.
What made you choose Vesta as the next step in your career?
I chose Vesta because of its values and the integrity behind its mission to be a forever home. The genuine care everyone shows for the portfolio companies – and, most importantly, for the founders and their teams – is something you don’t come across very often. That people-first approach really stood out to me.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
My main goal over the next year is to contribute to Vesta’s growth in Mexico and across LATAM, strengthening our presence in the region. I want to help give entrepreneurs the confidence that their legacies will be protected and that their vision will continue to grow, while unlocking new opportunities for sustainable scalability and long-term value creation.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy volunteering and am involved in projects that help people feel seen and heard, while also supporting their basic economic needs. I also love spending time with my family, especially my nieces and nephews, and going out with my Husky.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’d love to speak as many languages as possible. I currently speak four languages (two fluently and two at an intermediate level), and I really enjoy connecting with people from different parts of the world. Language is such a powerful way to understand different cultures.

What is your favourite quote?
“It’s not a lack of motivation, but a lack of determination and discipline.”
This quote reminds me to stay focused on my goals. Nothing meaningful is built overnight – with discipline and eyes on the goal, you can go very far.
