We’re continuing the expansion of our M&A department here at Vesta with the recruitment of Dominik Taras, who joins us as a Business Development Executive. This week, we caught up with Dominik to find out a bit more about him and his background.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background

I was born and raised in Ostrava in the Czech Republic, spending the first 20 years of my life there. I then moved to the US to pursue ice hockey, which I’ve played since I was young, and enrolled at the University of Texas. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, I began my career as an Account Manager in the logistics industry. It was here that I discovered my love of working with people internationally.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Vesta?

Though I’ve only been here for a few weeks, the team culture is something that has particularly stood out to me. I still have so much to learn, but everyone around me has been very welcoming and helpful.

Besides that, I am truly excited to work with a group of sharp-witted people that have a vision to be the leaders in the vertical markets we operate in. It’s so rewarding to be a part of this and help them to accomplish their goals!

What are your top three books / podcasts?

I don’t really listen to podcasts too much. I’ve recently read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and thought it was great!

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I’m a big fan of sports and like to get involved with as many as I can in my spare time. I also enjoy spending time with friends and exploring new places.

Who inspires you?

It’s hard to pick one person specifically. I would say those who are goal-oriented, dedicated and persistent.

If you could learn to do absolutely anything, what would it be?

I’d love to have the ability to change the weather – that way I could make this freezing winter go away!

What is your favourite quote?

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill
