It’s been a busy start to the year here at Vesta Software Group. As we look to continue our expansion in the Latin American market, we have welcomed two new members to the team to head up our HR and finance departments in the region.

This week, we spoke to Lorena and Leonardo to find out a bit more about them and their new roles.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background

Lorena: I was born in Montevideo in Uruguay and still live here now with my husband. I achieved a degree in Psychology from Universidad de la República, as well as a postgraduate in Human Resources and an MBA from Universidad ORT Uruguay. In addition, I have participated in different courses of the HR Executive program, also at Universidad ORT, and studied HR Agile at Univarsidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires in 2021.

I have been an Independent Consultant in Human Resources since 2005, and from 2012 to 2019, I worked as a consultant at CPA Ferrere where I was the Manager of Strategy & Human Capital. Here, I was responsible for recruitment processes that focused on high responsibility positions, as well as several HR consulting projects and HR management services for clients.

From 2019 to January 2022, I was HR Manager at Mediterranean Shipping Company Uruguay (MSC), where I developed the department from scratch. I implemented HR policies and processes via a global platform and participated in the global change management project.

Leonardo: I’m married to my wife Carolina and have 3 children – Guillermina, Justina and Juan Ignacio. I studied at the Universidad de la República in Uruguay and, since then, have built more than 13 years’ experience in finance and business development, working with large, international corporations.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Vesta?

Lorena: I enjoy being able to analyse the reality of each company that Vesta have acquired and build tailor-made solutions to suit them. As a group, we have a lot of experience and best practices, so it’s great to learn from everyone and propose these new solutions for the companies in the Latin America region.

Leonardo: I have enjoyed having the opportunity to build a great team here at Vesta. We all work really hard and have fun doing so!

What are your favourite books or podcasts?

Lorena: A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life by Brian Grazer, The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek and Agile People by Pia-Maria Thoren.

Leonardo: Good to Great by Jim Collins

What do you like to do outside of work?

Lorena: I have a passion for travel, food and wine. I also love to spend time my family and friends and regularly go to the gym when I’m not in the office. I enjoy sports, in particular Formula 1, basketball and tennis.

Leonardo: Outside of work, I love to spend quality time with my family and friends.

Who inspires you?

Lorena: I would have to say Rafael Nadal. Despite the many injuries he has suffered, he has still achieved so much.

Leonardo: Definitely Level 5 Leadership. It’s not a character or a person, but instead a concept developed in the book Good to Great.

If you could learn to do absolutely anything, what would it be?

Lorena: I would like to learn how to create art. I’m creative but I don’t have the ability to translate it into something concrete.

Leonardo: I would love to learn to sail.

What is your favourite quote?

Lorena: “No risk, no gain” and “better to ask for forgiveness than permission”. They’re very similar!

Leonardo: “Walk the talk” would have to be my favourite.

We are always looking for new talent to join the team at Vesta. Send you CV and covering letter to info@vestasoftwaregroup.com.
