About Tom
Tom Baptie joined Vesta Software Group in 2016 after a successful career as a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) with Compass Group. During his time at Vesta, Tom progressed through a series of senior finance leadership roles, ultimately serving as Finance Director before being promoted in 2022 to Group Chief Operations Officer. In this role, he led the decentralisation and scaling of central functions globally, building high‑performing teams across Finance, HR, IT and Compliance.
Working closely with Group CEO Richard Clancy, Tom has been deeply involved in Vesta’s international M&A strategy, supporting acquisitions and integrations across the world. His extensive operational and commercial experience, combined with a long‑held desire to lead a portfolio himself, led to his promotion in early 2026 to Portfolio Manager (Payments Division). In this role, Tom focuses on driving both organic and acquisitive growth across a portfolio of payments‑focused businesses.
Tom is passionate about the challenges and opportunities of a fast‑paced, acquisitive organisation. He thrives on shaping strong, scalable cultures and nurturing talent across the group.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys countryside walks with his dog, watching and playing a wide range of sports, and has recently developed an enthusiastic obsession with padel (“hit me up if you want a game!”).
